Guitar students at Surf City Music School are our most diverse group. We have students that are 5 years old coming in right after retiree’s that are picking up the guitar for the very first time. Either way, we make sure that your guitar lessons are in a highly customized, 1-on-1 setting with an experienced guitar teacher.

We offer lessons on either acoustic guitar, electric guitar, 1/2 sized guitar, and even Ukulele. We suggest starting on Ukulele for young beginners that have small hands.

You can learn any style of guitar playing. Want to learn how to play power chords and use distortion? Perfect! Want to learn how to solo and play blues scales and songs? Awesome! Because lessons are personalized, guitar lessons can be tailored to musical ambition.

Beginning students will be taught how to read chord charts, guitar tab, and simple sheet music. At Surf City Music School, we believe in not just playing music but also being able to read the music or chords yourself. We don’t want to just build good guitarists at SCMS. We also want to build critical thinkers and problem solvers. We balance this with making sure lessons are fun and engaging above all else. Students at Surf City Music School are always excited to come back and to learn something new at their next lesson.

Performance Opportunities.

Learning your new music skills are one thing, but being able to apply them and perform for an audience can enhance your musical confidence. We host recitals/concerts up to 4 times a year for our private lesson students.

Students are able to show off their hard work from the past few months and socialize with other students in the program. They are completely free of charge and we invite all friends and family to come. We are hosting a Christmas Virtual Recital in December 2020!
