Pricing and Policies

Pricing.

Half-hour Lessons: $40

There is a one-time registration fee of $30. This does include the starting books and materials for the student, a SCMS custom book bag, and other starting materials for students. Additional siblings do not require another fee, however additional books may need to be purchased by the student/parent.

Payments.

Lessons are paid for monthly at the beginning of the month. Invoices for lessons are sent out prior to the 1st and are due by the 7th. Payments cover the upcoming lessons for the rest of that month, but will also include any credits from missed or rescheduled lessons in the month prior.

The number of lessons billed each month is dependent on the number of lessons for your given day in the month (if your lessons are on Mondays and there are 4 Mondays in a month, you will be billed 4 lessons. If the next month there are 5 Mondays, you will be billed 5 lessons.)

Rescheduling or Canceling.

24-hour notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson. If notice is given less than 24 hours before the lesson or the student does not show up, there is no refund for that lesson. If 24-hour notice is given, the lesson can be rescheduled, or a credit can be added to the next month's invoice.

If the student is late, the missed time for the lesson will not be made up. The teacher will remain to teach the remainder of the lesson when the student arrives.

If the teacher is late, the minutes will be made up either at the end of the lesson or rescheduled for a different time.

2-weeks notice is required to discontinue or pause lessons. No refunds will be made.

Holidays.

Surf City Music School is closed in observance of holidays on the following dates or the date the holiday is observed: Memorial Day (5/25), Labor Day (9/2), Thanksgiving Day and the day following (11/28 & 11/29), Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day (12/24 & 12/25), New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day (12/31 & 1/1).

If a planned lesson falls on one of these days, the lesson will be rescheduled to another day.

Referrals.

Any student who comes to Surf City Music School via a referral from an existing student gets a free lesson in the first month of lessons. The student who gave the referral also gets a free lesson! There is no limit on how many students you can refer.

Student Care.

Photo and Video Consent

Surf City Music School lessons are often photographed or recorded for legal use in advertising, web content, and publicity. By agreeing to these policies, parents consent to photos and videos taken of their child to be used in this manner.

Picking Up Students

Students must be picked up by parents or legal guardians inside the studio. Please do not ask them to meet you outside or in the parking lot. If a student’s parent is not in the lobby when a lesson finishes, the student will be instructed to wait until their parent arrives. Since instructors often have to teach right after another student, Surf City Music School assumes no responsibility for students who are left unaccompanied before or after their scheduled lesson time.

Sibling Care

Parents cannot leave siblings unattended while their other child is having a lesson. Siblings must be supervised by parents while waiting for their lesson.
